Watch Out for Scam Phone Calls

Several credit union members have recently reported suspicious phone calls from individuals posing as credit union employees. Please be aware that even if you receive a call from our phone number (260-484-2102), it may be a scammer attempting to obtain personal information that could jeopardize your funds.

Here’s the scenario: Your phone rings and the caller ID says the call is from FPCCFCU. You answer, and the caller tells you they have noticed suspicious activity on your debit card – transactions for $800 and $900, for example, that they believe you did not authorize. They give you the first eight digits of your debit card and ask for the last eight digits and your account number to confirm your identity.

At this point, you should hang up the phone. This is a scam, and here are the signs:

  1. FPCCFCU will never call and ask you for your account number or credit or debit card numbers.
  2. The caller has impersonated FPCCFCU’s phone number. This may not be immediately apparent. However, if you are in doubt, hang up the phone and dial our number directly.

Regardless of the number that appears on your caller ID, if you receive a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to represent FPCCFCU, please hang up and call us at 260-484-2102 and we will take the necessary steps to protect you from fraud.
