Why is Fire Police City County FCU changing its name to Summit Choice Credit Union?
We do what we do every day to build a stronger community in Fort Wayne. This new name reflects our continued growth and dedication to serving a broader segment of the community while maintaining the personalized service that has defined us for over 90 years. Changing our name gives us the ability to pursue growth opportunities that will expand our reach and enable us to provide more convenient, low-cost financial services to more people in our area.
When will the name change take effect?
The name change will take effect at the beginning of April. You will see transitions starting the first week of April.
What will change with the new name?
Only the name and logo will change. You will see exterior branch signage, new brochures, stationery, plus an updated website with our new name and logo.
Is the name change a result of a merger or acquisition?
No. The name change is not the result of a merger or acquisition of any kind. We remain a member-owned cooperative.
Is Fire Police City County FCU changing ownership?
No, this is simply a name change. The credit union remains 100% member-owned and continues to be managed by the same Board of Directors and leadership team you know and trust. Nothing about our ownership or management is changing—only our name.
Who will be eligible to join the credit union?
Our charter remains the same. We will continue to serve fire, police, city and county employees and their families, in addition to the more than 360 select employer groups we currently serve.
How will this affect my membership status?
The name change will not affect your membership in any way. You and your fellow members will always remain the owners of our credit union.
Will Fire Police City County FCU debit and credit cards still work?
You may continue using your current Fire Police City County FCU debit, and credit cards as usual. Beginning in mid-March, we’ll replace them with new cards featuring our updated name and logo. These cards will be chip enabled and feature contactless tap-to-pay technology!
Will I have to change automatic withdrawals and direct deposits?
Your automatic drafts and direct deposits will continue to use the same transit and account numbers. Since these haven’t changed, you don’t need to update anything. Your Bill Pay service will also not be affected.
Will this affect my loans, savings and investments?
The name change will not impact your accounts in any way.
How will fees, loan rates and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?
Rates and fees will not be negatively affected by the name change. We will continue to monitor our rates and fees like we always have. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to market conditions.
Will the routing number change?
No, our routing number will remain the same. The routing number is 274973196.
Will my account number change?
No, your account number will remain the same.
Will the credit union phone numbers, website and email addresses change?
All phone numbers will remain the same. Our new website is www.summitchoice.org, which will become active on the 1st of April. The current website address and email addresses will automatically redirect to the new addresses for a while.
Will branch days of operation and hours change?
No. Branches will continue to be open and available to you the same days and times that you expect.
Will there be any change in my statement cycle or in the way statements are presented?
No. There will not be any changes to the statement cycle and it will remain in the same format you are used to.
How did you select the new name?
We spent many months working with a joint team of Board Members and Management under the advisement and guidance of an experienced and respected branding firm.
