Our History

About Us

The Credit Union was chartered in December 1933 to offer competitive financial services to the Fort Wayne Firemen. In 1982, the Credit Union merged with City-County Credit Union. In 1997, Fort Wayne Police Department Federal Credit Union decided to merge with Firefighters Federal Credit Union to offer more financial products and services to police officers. In 2013, the Credit Union acquired Freedom Financial FCU and N&W Federal Credit Union. In 2022, the Credit Union merged with City Trust FCU. Today, we serve hundreds of local businesses (also called select employee groups or SEGs) and their families. We serve people, just like you.

The Credit Union philosophy of “people helping people” is what makes us stand apart from other financial institutions. We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative that is owned and governed by our members. Our goal is to serve our members, not to make a profit. After the Credit Union’s expenses are paid and reserves are set aside, the earnings are returned to the members in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates, and more services.

We are structured for the financial benefit of our members. Each member owns a portion of the Credit Union. Our employees are committed to putting forth the best service to help members succeed in their financial goals. The Credit Union offers an array of products and services to meet the financial needs of its members.

Statement of Commitment to Members

Our mission is “To provide quality financial and information services and to promote each member’s personal financial growth.” It is the core principle of our organization. We take pride in the financial growth of our members who give us the opportunity to meet their financial needs. Credit Union employees are actively involved in the community that we serve and are encouraged to participate in activities and projects.

Our actions are conducted using the highest standards of ethics, fairness, and respect. It is through the integrity and commitment of each individual that enables us to reap our success. We care about our members and coworkers and appreciate the relationships we have established through the years.
