Statement of Commitment to Members
The credit union volunteers, management, and staff work to monitor member needs and respond with products, services, and educational opportunities to meet those needs. In addition to members and potential members, it is also important to “tell our story” to legislators, regulators, and the community at large. We place high importance on consumer education that helps our members achieve their financial goals.
The actions and direction provided by the board of directors and management since Fire Police City County FCU was founded over 75 years ago have laid a strong foundation. The decisions and direction have created a financial institution that far exceeds peer ratios in financial soundness and stability.
This “Statement of Commitment to Members” is consistent with our principles of “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, but for Service” and our philosophy of “People Helping People.”
What makes Fire Police City County FCU different?
Fire Police City County Federal Credit Union has a very competitive advantage over the other credit unions. We have the fundamental knowledge, ability, and expertise to provide the benefits to our members that other institutions have a hard time trying to imitate. Our philosophy of “people helping people” has worked well for us through the years. We have expanded to help families obtain their first home, to help young and old get the best deal possible when they purchase their automobiles, to help balance the checkbook when the figures just don’t tally. It comes right down to the fact that we care about our members. We strive to make a positive difference for our members regarding their financial situation.
Our Board of Directors has established bedrock ideals about what is good or bad, right or wrong, moral or immoral. Our goal is to teach and train our members about financial responsibility. Our employees are committed to training each member how to use our services, including internet banking, the convenience of automatic bill pay, knowledge on curbing identity theft by signing up for direct deposit – the list is endless. We offer several member educational seminars throughout the year to educate the members on the importance of formulating and sticking to a budget, the importance of maintaining a good credit score by using credit to their advantage, and teaching youngsters how to balance a checkbook.
We are consistently a high performer in “Return to Member,” ranking number one over ten years. What this means to our members is that we give our net revenues back to the members, our owners, in higher dividends on savings and lower rates on loans. We offer products at a reasonable cost. We work profitably and efficiently to provide the services our members require for their financial success.
